The Pittsville School District in the City of Pittsville, Wood County, Wisconsin, is a small rural school district located on the east side of the Yellow River in the geographical center of the state of Wisconsin near the intersections of state highways 80 and 73. It is located about 17 miles south of Marshfield and 17 miles west of Wisconsin Rapids, which allows residents and students to take advantage of cultural and educational opportunities while still enjoying the rural small town atmosphere. Approximately 860 people live in the City of Pittsville.
The District's area covers over 364 square miles on relatively flat terrain that once was glacial Lake Wisconsin, a remnant of the ancient melting glaciers. The land surrounding Pittsville is mixed agricultural land used to raise livestock and crops as well as forest products. The primary industries in and around Pittsville include crop production and processing, forestry, trucking, the paper industry, and businesses that support them.
The Pittsville School District is served by a five person School Board and approximately 100 staff. The school system serves about 570 students in two primary buildings located across the street from each other, an Elementary School and a High School. During 2021, a new state of the art 24,000 square foot Career and Technical Education Facility was constructed and adjoined to the Administrative building, which is also connected to the Elementary School. The Elementary School is home to Primary (preschool, 4-year-old Kindergarten, 5-year-old Kindergarten, and grades 1-3), Middle School (grades 4-5), and Junior High (grades 6-8) students, while the High School provides for our 9th-12th grade students.
